Persuasive Writing

The students will have several experiences with persuasive writing through a variety of topics and formats. It's going to be a lot of fun, and they may try out some of these strategies at home too! :)

Writing Trait - Word Choice

This is a great website for an overview of what "Word Choice" is CLICK HERE.
This is when we ask ourselves questions about our writing, such as:
Have I used some strong verbs or colorful phrases that grab my reader?
Have I chosen the most precise word?
Have I used any unique words?
Did I repeat common words too many times?

Writing Trait - Organization

We will continue to learn about and writing personal narratives. The writing trait that we are going to focus on is ORGANIZATION. Here is great link that will help you organize your thoughts and writing at home. CLICK HERE

For our "organization" practice, we are writing postcards about our summer vacations. Our focus will not only be on the favorite thing that we did but also on writing a paragraph with a TOPIC SENTENCE, DETAILS, and a CLOSING SENTENCE. Stop by our hall next week to see our final drafts. (This week we are working on rough drafts and revisions.)

Here are some wonderful writing activities for extra FUN!
